October 2024 Favorite Reads

I had a lot of surprise favorites this month with my reads. There were a few books that I had a feeling going in I would really enjoy, but ended up surprisingly deeply loving. They just surpassed expectations. I guess it’s a good problem to have!

Of the books I read in October, I narrowed it down to 8 favorites. And then narrowing it down to a top favorite was hard. But I’ll get in to that after I list my favorites.

  • Old Flames & New Fortunes – I knew I would enjoy this second chance witchy, romcom but I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did. It was funny and heartfelt and heartbreaking and just all the things.
  • Powerless – I continue to love the Chestnut Springs series and loved Jasper and Sloane.
  • Masters of Death – This was another surprise love for me. I loved all the characters and how the stories weaved together
  • Goldfinch – What an epic conclusion to this series.
  • The Undermining of Twyla & Frank – This was the ultimate friends to lovers book.
  • Daisy Haites: The Great Undoing – I love this whole Magnolia Parks/Daisy Haites world and loved being back in it even though there were a lot of sad moments in this book.
  • Nothing Like the Movies – Ahh reunited Liz and Wes finally!
  • My Vampire Plus-One – This book was so entertaining!

It was really hard for me to pick my favorite book of the month. Usually, I have a very clear (or at least pretty clear) idea of what book was my favorite for the month. My top favorites were Nothing Like the Movies, Goldfinch, Old Flames & New Fortunes, and Masters for Death.

Ultimately, I decided….

Old Flames & New Fortunes! It just featured a lot of my favorite things in the novel and made my heart happy throughout.
