    Cold Weather Coziness

How was your weekend? I’m sure you wish it would last longer as I always do. My weekend was pretty low key, which was okay with me since I’ve been running on fumes lately. Friday in to Saturday we had some pretty crazy weather especially the very high winds, so I mostly just stayed in to hide from that. Seeing as that’s how most of my weekend was spent, I thought it was the perfect day to share a cozy post and a little funny story. In the winter, I love to wear cozy clothes at home and if I’m on the couch, I will have a blanket on me…

    This Winter

The past 2 days I’ve been home since school’s been closed due to snow/ice days. For those of you who are new to Life According to Jamie, my full time/day job is teaching. While I was off, I browsed through my phone and saw that I had quite a few short videos from this winter of the different little snowfalls we had. I took advantage of my extra free time and made a short video compilation of all the videos. An homage to winter 2016-2017 if you will. I’m hoping this winter weather is officially on its way out because as much as I kept saying I wanted a little more…

    Photo Challenge: Against the Odds

Last week’s photo challenge was “Against the Odds” and I’m using a photo from last winter as my photo response. It is definitely not from this week considering it is going to be 70 degrees today! Yes, in February! I first shared this photo on here in my post last winter about being snowed in due to a blizzard. I thought this photo would be a good photo response for “Against the Odds” as a sort of symbolic picture. I think we all feel stuck in life at times – I know I’m guilty of it – and like we won’t be able to get over the latest hurdle or obstacle in life.…

    Winter Songs

I don’t know about you, but for me I associate most songs with seasons. Some songs just sound like summer to me and likewise for winter and the other seasons. I was listening to some music on Spotify while I was driving the other day and thought I would put together 5 songs I’m currently listening to (old and new-er) that make me think “winter”. When I think of winter music the songs are usually ballads or at least not as fast and upbeat. more reflective and I imagine listening while walking through a scene similar to the gif above. A moonlit stroll with falling snow and the fresh, cold…

    Photo Challenge: Path

Somehow we’re already in our last days of 2016. Today I have the last photo challenge post of 2016. The Daily Post’s challenge this past week was “Path“, which seems like a logical prompt for the end of a year and beginning of a new one. I went through a bunch of old pictures of mine to try to find a picture that I thought would go well and I came across this picture I took last winter. I took this photo last winter on my way to work (don’t worry my car was stopped) one morning right after I pulled out of my driveway. The tire tracks coming from…

    Photo Challenge: Dance

Dancing is one of the most beautiful art forms. I love dancing whether it’s out with my friends having a fun time or when I took dance classes growing up from elementary school until I graduated high school. If you know me, you’ll also know I’m obsessed with watching dance shows on TV like Dancing with the Stars (p.s. a post about the new season coming later today!). But things other than people can have dance-like qualities too so when I thought about what kind of picture I wanted to take or use for this week’s photo challenge from The Daily Post, which was “Dance“, I tried to think of other…

    Snowed In

Snowed in. Literally. My area was hit with a blizzard over the weekend and at the time that I’m writing this (11PM on Sunday night) my street has still not been plowed yet! So although my driveway is cleared, I am literally trapped. The snow began Friday night and steadily and at times heavily continued until late Saturday night. In 24 hours, we got over 30 inches (taking snow drifts into account). The wind was crazy at times hence the snow drifts. I’m not exaggerating when I say that whenever I opened my front door to take a look at the snow I would get hit in the face with…

    5 Fall/Winter Inspired Songs

It feels like it took forever to arrive at Wednesday this week, but here we finally are. Hopefully you all have been experiencing much speedier weeks. Today I wanted to share a few songs that I think are perfect for this time of the year. No, I’m not talking about the holiday season, but instead I’m talking about the fall/winter. I’m the type of person that really associates songs with seasons or times of the year. There’s some songs that definitely sound more summery with their upbeat melodies and some that seem more suited for the winter months that feature slower melodies and deeper tones. Sometimes it has a lot…

    Winter Cabin

Winter Cabin by lifeaccordingtojamie featuring a wooden mirror I originally was going to post this evening about my new rain boots, but since today’s a snowy day here where I live I thought I’d save that for another day. We didn’t get nearly enough snow to get an early dismissal, but I did get to go home right after the students left instead of having to stay for another hour like we’re normally supposed to so that was nice. Although, we didn’t get significant amounts of snow, it is, however, pretty cold out there so it made me think of this Polyvore set I made a few weeks ago on a…
