It’s been the first full (work) week of 2015 and I have to admit the new-ness of the year is starting to wear off but that might just be the fatigue of being back to work talking! With the holiday decorations sadly coming down, my only solace is basking in the new things I got over the holidays. I’m not one for new year’s resolutions, but with the new year there are new things that I want to make time for or learn more about. So my response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge for “New” is a shot of two new coffee table books I got right after Christmas.
The two new books I got are 100 Years of Fashion and Classic Beauty The History of Makeup. I used an Amazon.com gift card I received from my Secret Santa at work to buy these two books I’ve been wanting since last year (last year meaning 2013) but never got around to buying. I put a couple different gift cards up on my work wish list, but secretly really wanted the Amazon one so I could buy these books so I was thrilled when I got it!
Fashion and beauty are two major interests to me. This year I want to learn not just about current and upcoming styles, trends, products etc., but also about the history of both to really learn more about both. I’m fascinated to learn about how trends have changed (and possibly come back) over the years and what/who inspired what kind of looks and whatnot. I can’t wait to dive into these books and I really intend to read through every page of these books!
