My Love Letter to You

Dear Readers,

Happy Valentine’s Day! Whether you’re spending the day with a significant other, your friends, family, relaxing by yourself, or with Christian Grey (and who would blame you cause he’s super hot), I thought it would be nice to send a little extra love your way from me to you! I hope you like this card I designed especially for you 😉

I wanted to share what I wore to work the other day. I know red and pink are usually the go-to colors for the holiday, but I went with black, grey and white for a sleek look.

One of my students asked me why my shirt didn’t have a red heart and I joked that I have a black heart. But seriously, I love the black sequin heart and that it is on a slant instead of straight on in the middle of the shirt. I also love that the shirt is striped instead of solid colored. I think it adds a bit of maturity to the shirt to keep it from looking too kiddy-ish. The shirt is thin and 3/4 sleeves so I paired it with a blazer to stay warm. I chose to wear this grey blazer instead of a looser fitting black one I have so that they would match my taupe wedges. I didn’t want to go for a completely black & white look.

Aside from having some fun with your look, Valentine’s Day is a day to show a little extra love and spread love to those around you no matter whether you’re in a relationship or not. While I completely agree with all those who say “Why only express your love on February 14th and not any other day of the year?”, you can’t really say no to some extra kindness and thoughtfulness, right?

I know some people get upset when they compare what they’ll be doing with what other people and other couples are doing. Everyone’s idea of Valentine’s Day is different and we shouldn’t compare one to the other. Some might go out for a romantic meal, some might be having a girls night out or a girls night in, some might be pampering themselves with a bubble bath, spa and movie night. Actually, some of my best Valentine’s Days have been spent with girlfriends. One year, two of my friends and I went out to dinner after work and I kid you not the restaurant looked like it was straight out of that scene from the Sex and the City movie when Carrie and Miranda go out for Valentine’s Day.

There was stuff all over the tables (flowers, confetti, etc.), streamers and balloons everywhere. It wasn’t just decorated for Valentine’s Day, it looked like Valentine’s Day threw up all over the restaurant. It was actually really funny and obviously very memorable!

And as Ellie Goulding says “Love me like you do”, but probably don’t “touch me like you do” cause that might be a little creepy. 🙂
