Turkey Chili & Fries
The weather is starting to get warmer, but with being stuck inside so much lately I think we can all use some comfort food. Chili is one of those comfort foods for so many. I’ve shared a chili recipe on here before – a family recipe. This time I’m sharing an equally delicious chili that I’ve been making for about a year. I found this recipe on Pinterest last year and it’s so good, I’ve made it multiple times and I’m actually planning to make it later this week!
For this recipe you’ll need:
- olive oil
- onion
- garlic
- bell pepper
- ground turkey
- chili powder
- cumin
- dried oregano
- cayenne pepper
- salt
- diced or crushed tomatoes
- chicken broth
- red kidney beans
- corn
In a pot, cook the onions, garlic, and bell pepper in olive oil. After a few minutes add in the ground turkey, breaking it up, and cook until no longer pink. Next, add in the spices: chili powder, cumin, oregano, cayenne, and salt. Give everything a good stir.
Then, add in the tomatoes, chicken broth, kidney beans, and corn. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer. Let it simmer for 3-45 minutes, until the chili thickens.
You can top the chili with whatever you want – tortilla chips, sour cream avocado, etc. I usually just add some shredded mexican cheese on top. And in this case I also poured the chili on top of crinkle fries for some chili fries!
So good and easy to make! I’m planning to make it again this week, but this time with some cornbread. Yum, can’t wait!
And as a side note, I wrote a short story for a writing contest called “Beneath the Surface”. It had to be 500 words or less, true or fictional, about someone uncovering a truth and/or honesty prevailing. Please give my story a read! You need to create a Wattpad account if you don’t already have one, but it is free! Thank you!
