August 2017 Favorites

I can’t believe it’s going to be September tomorrow! How is the summer basically over? As with the end of every month, I’m sharing a few things I loved this month!

I saw The Zookeeper’s Wife earlier this month and I thought it was so powerful and Jessica Chastain was amazing in it. It is based on a true story and Chastain plays Antonina Zabinski. Her and her husband run the Warsaw Zoo and when the Nazi’s begin to take over, they decide to risk their lives by hiding Jewish people on their grounds. It’s an amazing story and all the more because it is a real story.

In the middle of the month, I spent a long weekend in Canada visiting family. You may have seen my Niagara Falls post and/or my Royal Botanical Gardens post from my time up there. Anyway, whenever we go up to Toronto my uncle always gives us a ton of things to take back home with us, especially snack food. They’re usually not anything we couldn’t get in the States or at least something similar but he insists on us taking all these things anyway. This time, one of the things he gave us that I’m actually not sure I can find here are tofu crisps. They’re basically chips but they’re made from soy and they’re so tasty and addictive! The black dots are sesame seeds. They’re so good! They came in a plastic container like they were made at the store he bought them from. They weren’t in a box or made by a company that I could look up, just a clear plastic container with the store sticker.

My next favorite is my new Alex & Ani Sand Castle Charm Bangle. I thought the sand castle charm with the blue background was so pretty. I love when Alex & Ani do a charitable component to their pieces and this one benefits the SOS Children’s Villages, whose mission is to build families for children in need. It’s so pretty and I love that it’s going to a good cause.

I have 2 beauty favorites this month. First, I rediscovered my love for Tarte’s Tartelette in Bloom palette. I brought it with my to Canada and I forgot how great it is. It’s a neutral lover’s heaven!

My other beauty favorite is Maybelline’s Lash Sensational Mascara! This mascara has been great and after finishing up the bareMinerals Lash Domination which kept smudging on me this has been a very pleasant mascara!

There have been a lot of songs that I’ve liked throughout August, but the one I’ve been really loving this past week is Lady Gaga’s “The Cure”. When I first heard it, I didn’t know it was her! I had to look up who sang the song. It sounds so different from her previous material, but I love it!
