Restyled: Blue Velvet Pleated Skirt
When I had my photoshoot with Lauren at the beginning of the month this outfit was not one of the original outfits I picked out. Just days before the photoshoot I switched out my more vibrant, hot weather outfit, for this white sleeveless top and blue velvet pleated skirt because the weather was supposed to be cool and cloudy that day. As with all my shoots with Lauren, the weather ended up being hotter and sunnier than forecasted (not complaining!).
Anyway, I’ve worn this blue velvet pleated skirt on here before but that was with a long sleeve white tee so definitely more of a cool weather look. This time I styled it for summer, even though velvet isn’t really a summer fabric. I paired it with a sleeveless white top that I knotted up and gem embellished slides.
Top: Old Navy | Skirt: LC Lauren Conrad via Kohl’s | Sandals: Express
So this might sound crazy, but I came up with this outfit idea because it reminded me of the movie Dirty Dancing. If you’ve seen the movie, it reminds me of the part where Baby and Johnny are practicing and start getting frustrated with each other and they decide to go out to practice the lift. Baby is wearing a pleated midi skirt and a white tank top knotted up. Granted her top was knotted all the way up to make it almost like a bra top, but same idea!
I love this summer restyling of this skirt and the embellished sandals are the perfect sparkly touch!
