Yea or Nay: Statement Necklaces

It’s been a little while since my last Yea or Nay post so I thought I should get on that! How do you feel about statement necklaces? I love the look of them, but I must admit I don’t wear them too often. I have a handful of them, but I only wear them once in a while because my weekly wardrobe mostly consists of work wear and on a majority of those days I want to just keep things simple in terms of jewelry opting for nothing but a watch and occasionally other dainty pieces. Every once in a while though you want something to really stand out and give you that extra something to your outfit.

The other day I wore this pretty and fun clear gem statement necklace my bff got me a few years ago. I wore a bright green cashmere sweater and loose black cardigan. I decided I wanted the necklace to make my outfit go from drab to fab. Okay, I know the outfit isn’t really drab at all, but I liked the rhyme 🙂

The gems on the necklace are clear and have metallic wrapped beads inside each one. As I said earlier, it was a gift so I’m not sure where it’s from, but if I recall correctly I think the pouch it came in was from Francesca’s.

The green is so bright that I think the necklace really breaks up the color and gives your eye a visual break. I wore this sweater back in December and also wore a necklace but went for a long pendant instead so the statement necklace gives a different look and in my opinion takes it from a more dressy casual look (with the long pendant) to a more sophisticated, dressy look (with the statement necklace).

What are your thoughts on statement necklaces? Yea or Nay?
