June 2020 Favorites

Can you believe it’s already the end of June? This has been the weirdest year ever. We’re more than halfway through 2020 and we’ve been in lockdown or in some sort of quarantine for almost 4 of those months.

I have a few favorites from this month to share. It’s actually a pretty short list.

First, I’ve mentioned this before and if you follow my Instagram Stories, then you know I’ve been trying to go for daily walks whenever the weather is good. When I was working from home during the last 3 months of school, I knew I had to get out for walks. It was good to get fresh air since we were stuck inside during lockdown and I needed to get some walking/exercise in since if I didn’t I’d basically just be walking back and forth from the kitchen to my guest room/office to the kitchen and bathroom. This month, I remembered that I had a Sweet Sweat Waist Trimmer band from when I used to do BBG. I talked about it on here back when I first got it, but in case you’re unfamiliar, it is a band that you can fasten with velcro and it helps to burn fat – targeting the area you’re using it. Obviously, this one is for the waist, but they also make ones for your arms, thighs, etc. I started wearing this under my shirt when I walk and I forgot how crazy the sweat is under the band when you wear it. I don’t remember if I bought it directly from the retailer or Amazon when I got it about 2 years ago or so, but I’ve linked to it at Amazon. It has 4.5 stars and over 18,000 reviews!

I have written 2 blog posts about what I binge watched during quarantine (here and here). The latest show I’ve been watching is Lucifer. It’s got lots of episodes so it’s keeping me entertained. I heard of the show back when it was on Fox on tv and I heard about the fan petition when it got canceled after 3 seasons that prompted Netflix to pick it up. But, I never watched it. I had heard good things about the show and it’s got a serious fandom if it persuaded Netflix to take on the show so I started watching it and I love it. If you don’t know the premise is that Lucifer decides to leave Hell and live in Los Angeles. He owns a nightclub and meets an LAPD detective, Chloe Decker. They become partners and solve crimes together while Lucifer also deals with celestial things and there’s the constant will they or won’t they love story between the two.

The first half of season 5 is getting released on Netflix in late August and I can’t wait! It was supposed to be the last season, but they just announced that they are going to make a 6th and final final season.

I have 2 food favorites for this month. First, dried mangoes. I’ve been eating dried mangoes since I was a kid, but I hadn’t had them in so long. When my mom gave me a package, I ate that so fast. I had to force myself to stretch the package out to last a week. Dried mango is so addictive.

The other food favorite is a muffin. To be more specific, it is the cranberry walnut muffin from Wegmans (my fav grocery store). They are so good and I’ve eaten them for a few years now, but usually I just pick up 1 or 2 at a time when I do get them. But since the pandemic forced the bakeries in supermarkets to prepackage the baked goods in bulk, I have to get more than 2 at a time. I refrigerate them to keep them fresh if I know I won’t eat them in a day or two. These muffins made up plenty of breakfasts for me when I was doing virtual teaching.

My next favorite is the app that I’ve been using all the time – the Happy Color app. I was looking for a color by number app to de-stress and have something to do without having to think. I’ve been obsessed with this app for the past week and I’ll do a picture when I’m taking a break from something or when I’m watching tv. I’m hooked.

Lastly, I got my hair cut and new highlights yesterday for the first time in 5 months. You may have seen my hair on my Instagram Stories yesterday. I feel like a new person! I’m lucky that I only get highlights for fun and to change up my hair. I know so many people were suffering without their hair salons because they have a lot of greys. Luckily, that wasn’t my case. I cut my hair back to shoulder length and get fresh highlights and I feel brand new! Definitely one of my favorite things of the month.

That’s it for my June favorites! Just a few things that I loved this month. We’ll see how July goes!

Stay safe out there and don’t forget to wear a mask and wash your hands!
